1. About Vernon EV

Vernon EV operates an online platform available at vernonev.ca that connects homeowners, businesses, and strata properties in Vernon, British Columbia and the surrounding communities with independent, licensed EV charger installation contractors. When you submit a request through our website, we share it with licensed contractors in our network who serve your area, and those contractors provide quotes and perform any agreed-upon work.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using vernonev.ca, submitting a quote request, or otherwise engaging with the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

3. How the platform works

Vernon EV is a connection and coordination service. When you submit a request, we collect the details you provide — such as your name, contact information, vehicle, property type, and project description — and pass them to one or more licensed EV charger installation contractors serving your community.

The contractor that responds will contact you directly to arrange an assessment, provide a quote, and, if you accept, schedule and perform the work. Vernon EV is not a party to that quote, agreement, or work.

4. Requests, quotes and pricing

Any quote provided following a request is prepared by the responding contractor based on the information you supply and, where applicable, an assessment of your property. Quotes are typically provided as one flat price covering the agreed scope, equipment, and applicable permits.

A quote is valid for the period stated by the contractor who issued it. Prices may change if the scope of work changes, if site conditions differ materially from the information provided, or if you request additional work. Unless stated otherwise in writing, a quote is an offer that becomes binding only when you accept it and the contractor confirms the booking.

5. Contractors are independent

All electrical work is performed by independent, licensed contractors — not by Vernon EV. Contractors in our network are responsible for maintaining their own licences (including Red Seal certification where applicable), insurance, permits, and compliance with Technical Safety BC and all applicable electrical codes and regulations.

Vernon EV does not employ, supervise, or directly control the contractors on the platform, and does not guarantee the outcome, timing, pricing, or workmanship of any project.

6. Your agreement is with the contractor

When you accept a quote, a contract for services is formed solely between you and the contractor. The contractor is responsible for performing the work, supplying equipment, scheduling, and communicating with you throughout the project.

Contractors on the platform are independent businesses responsible for maintaining their own licences, WorkSafe BC coverage, liability insurance, permits, and compliance with Technical Safety BC requirements and all applicable electrical codes. Vernon EV does not employ or supervise contractors and does not direct the manner in which work is performed.

7. Permits and inspections

The contractor performing your work is responsible for taking out any permits required for the installation and for arranging any inspections required by Technical Safety BC or the local authority. Permit requirements vary by project type and location, and the contractor will confirm what applies to your job.

8. Equipment and products

Chargers and related equipment supplied through a contractor are subject to the manufacturer's warranty, not a warranty from Vernon EV. Where a contractor provides a workmanship warranty, the terms of that warranty are set out in your agreement with the contractor.

9. No liability for contractor work

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vernon EV is not liable for any act, omission, error, delay, damage, injury, or loss arising from work performed, or services provided, by any contractor you engage through the platform. Any contract for work, and all responsibility for its performance, exists solely between you and the contractor.

Vernon EV does not warrant or guarantee that a contractor will contact you, that any quote will be provided, or that any project will proceed. We make no representation or warranty regarding the suitability of any contractor for your specific project.

10. Warranties and disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the platform and all information on it are provided on an "as is" basis, and Vernon EV disclaims all warranties, conditions, and representations, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Vernon EV does not warrant that a contractor will be available, that a quote will be provided, that any price will meet your budget, or that any project outcome, schedule, or workmanship will meet your expectations.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vernon EV, its owners, and its operators will not be liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, property damage, personal injury, or loss arising out of or relating to:

work performed, or not performed, by any contractor arranged through the platform;

any quote, estimate, advice, or information provided by a contractor;

any delay, defect, deficiency, or dispute between you and a contractor; or

your use of, or reliance on, the website or its content.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with work performed by a contractor is against that contractor, under the terms of your agreement with them.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vernon EV, its owners, and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from information you provide, your breach of these terms, or your dealings with a contractor arranged through the platform.

13. Your obligations

When using the platform, you agree to:

Provide accurate, current, and complete information in your quote request.

Own or have authority over the property where work is requested, or obtain the owner's permission.

Provide safe and reasonable access to the property for assessments and installations.

Deal with contractors in good faith.

14. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the platform, including by submitting false or fraudulent requests, submitting requests on behalf of others without their consent, attempting to interfere with the operation of the website, scraping or harvesting content or contractor information, or using the platform for any unlawful purpose.

15. Information you submit

You confirm that any information and photos you submit through the platform are yours to share and may be used to assess and quote your project. We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws in British Columbia and Canada.

16. Disputes with contractors

Any dispute about a quote, invoice, delay, or the quality of work should first be raised directly with the contractor who performed the work, as the agreement for services is between you and that contractor. Vernon EV is happy to help facilitate communication but is not able to adjudicate or settle disputes on either party's behalf.

17. Website content

All content on vernonev.ca — including text, design, graphics, and the Vernon EV name and logo — is owned by or licensed to Vernon EV and may not be copied, reproduced, or used commercially without written permission. Content is provided for general information only and does not constitute electrical, legal, or professional advice.

18. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the platform available and accurate, but we provide the website and its content on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. We may update, suspend, or change any part of the platform or these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
